The European and Mediterranean Cereal Rusts Foundation

The European and Mediterranean Cereals Rusts Foundation was given legal status as a non-profit organisation on 18th April 1969. The logo for the Foundation was selected as the symbol used on the front of the proceedings of the conference in Portugal, and consists of a circle with the words C.R.C and PANIS AB UREDINE LIBER, within which are wheat ears and both urediospores and a teleutospore of a cereal rust on their stalks.

The purposes of the Foundation are:

  • to organize international conferences on problems related to the rusts and powdery mildew diseases of cereals;
  • to promote international co-operation on the study of cereal rusts and powdery mildews in particular, and where necessary of cereal diseases and pests in general;
  • to promote scientific research on cereal rusts and powdery mildews, and where necessary, of cereal diseases and pests in general, and further the practical application the scientific results.

During the 12th conference held in Turkey, October 2009, it was decided to invite people from outside Europe and the Mediterranean area to join the board. The international co-operation and scientific research is promoted by organizing international conferences at a regular basis, preferably in Europe or in the Mediterranean area. Based on experiences from recent years, the need for a particular journal for cereal rusts and powdery mildews has been lowered, and the board has accordingly decided not to accept new individual submissions for publication in the Bulletin.

Full text papers published since 2000 are available from "Papers" (left panel) and titles of all previous papers since 1973 are available in "Archives". Requests for publication of conference proceedings and abstracts as special issues of the Bulletin will be considered on ad hoc basis.
